Competa is a very attractive small white town and as it nestles in the foothills of the National Park it makes an ideal base for a walking holiday, yet it is only a half hour drive from the Mediterranean and one hour from Malaga airport.This very attractive 3 star hotel is situated near the top of the town and therefore enjoys beautiful views, but is only a few minutes walk from the town centre, which has lots of shops and a market on Saturdays. The steep, cobbled, narrow streets and attractive white houses with balconies bursting with flowers, make this a lovely town to explore when guests have rested for a while after walking. Competa also benefits from a large number of bars and restuarants all within easy walking distance of the Hotel Balcon, so guests may choose to stay on a bed and breafast basis, so that they can visit a different restaurant every evening. It is also an ideal base for a sightseeing holiday, as there are interesting sights to see on the days when guests don't want to tour. The Competa wine festival starts 15th August and is an experience not to be missed. It originially began as a farewell party for the farmers, who were setting off to harvest the grapes and makes a fascinating highlight on a sightseeing holiday.
